What benefits will the QM give my organization?
The exact benefits will vary. The QM provides an external benchmark of the quality of your provision and this will be useful to your organization internally in a number of ways as well as for your learners, clients or customers. They will have an assurance of your methods and commitment to their success. For more information see Quality Mark Holders Benefits.

 

Why should we go for the QM if we have ISO 9000 ?

The QM is complementary to this award . It provides a more rigorous statement of your organizations' ability to provide open, flexible or e-Learning than most other awards, which have a broader purpose. It can also be cross referenced to previous quality assurance activities.

 

We have 8 learning centers, can we get a QM to cover them all?
If these are centrally planned and managed  then this may be possible, although you will need to negotiate the methods of verification and price with the ALA. Where each center is separately managed e.g. in different business units, then this will normally be a separate QM application.

 

How do we know that the verification is consistent and all organizations are treated equally?
All verifiers are very experienced flexible learning practitioners, who have worked extensively on creating a reliable verification system for the awards. They have a commitment to ensuring a consistent and rigorous approach and this is ensured by a formal system of moderation across submissions.

 

Can non-members of the ALA apply?
The QM is open to any organization with a committed approach to forms of flexible learning. The costs are less for ALA members, however, and several other ALA activities available only to members provide support and assistance which will contribute to an organization's ability to gain the award.

 

Does achieving the QM allow us to Kite Mark our products?
The Quality Mark relates to the processes that you adopt in your organization and the results achieved ensuring that the outcomes are directed at satisfying customer needs. Your objective should be to enable the customer to make the most informed choices possible. For them to be the final arbiters of quality between products and services.

 

We are an in-house unit with no external customers. How is the QM useful to us?
The Quality Mark will demonstrate to your internal clients, your suppliers and your rivals that your operation meets internationally agreed criteria for a quality service.

 

We are looking to develop a partnership with an organization which complements our own learning activities. How might the QM help our situation?
Holding the Association's Quality Mark will assist you in working with organizations that share the same perspectives and systems which should help you in reaching shared objectives.

 

We are a small unit operating within a much larger organization . How do we decide what to assess for the QM?
You only need to address those items that are specifically related to your open and flexible learning operation. Your first step in self assessment is to identify the boundaries of your learning activities.

 

We are keen to bench mark our activities. How will the QM Help us?
Bench marking will be a key feature of the whole operation. Organizations recognized with the Quality Mark will be motivated to share their experience and good practice.

 

We are producers of E-learning. Is the QM right for us?
The Quality Mark is awarded to an organization  that strives for quality throughout it's operation irrespective of the kind of medium used. However there is a set of criteria that specifically addresses E-Learning delivery issues. Many holders of the Quality Mark are involved with E-Learning.

 

Flexible learning is only one approach that we use. Why should we consider the QM?
The achievement of the Quality Mark enhances your ability to satisfy internal and external customers and will have a beneficial impact on your other education and training approaches. The process engenders a culture of continuous improvement and review.
